It was Savannah Marie's second birthday and we partied our little hearts out at Kelkenberg Farm. Just as a side note, if you live in the Buffalo area, this is a FANTASTIC place to have a birthday party. A birthday package includes a tour of the farm, pony rides for the kids, a horse drawn hay ride to the sunflower or pumpkin patch, and use of their large and beautiful carriage room!
The party started at 2:00 so we arrived around 1:30 to set the room up and get everything ready. My mom and I stayed up late into the night the day before crafting, DIY-ing, and making my vision for her party come to life. Everything you see above came from Target, Dollar Tree, Party City, and Amazon (Details at bottom of post).
My sweet girl went right for the twizzlers as soon as I put her on the table for a picture.
The popcorn corn on the cobs were a huge hit! I was so glad because those are what took me the longest to make! Everything below are all ideas I found on Pinterest!
- Popcorn Corn on the Cob
- Licorice Lasso's
- Suckers in a Haystack
- 'Pitchforks and Shovels' Utensils
- Color Combination
- Cow Tails and Root Beer Barrels
- Dairy Jars for Milk and Cider
- Popcorn Kernel Sunflower Centerpieces
- Pig Nose Pink Cups
As soon as everybody arrived, we got a tour of the farm and all of the kids got to pet the animals. They even got to brush the horses and milk a goat! There is a neat water pump where you can race little rubber ducks and that kept all of the kids busy while the adults set up lunch and when it was time to clean up.
After the tour, my mom, Chris, and I set up lunch in our room while all of the kids went on pony rides right outside. The belly laughs, the smiles, and seeing the happiness on all of in in laws faces watching their kids have a ball made me feel even more certain we picked a perfect venue for Savannah's birthday.
After a lunch of subs, potato salad, watermelon, and chips, we all took a horse drawn hay ride to the sunflower field! It was gorgeous and everything you would think it would be. It was a photographers paradise and I WISH I made someone take a family picture of us! I was too busy enjoying the moment, and snapping shots of family and friends who made her day special #worthit.
If you look in this picture, you can see a little bumble bee pollinating the sunflower. #Savethebees
After the horse drawn hayride,
My mother OUTDID herself with the cupcakes! She stayed up two days before baking, frosting, planning, detailing, and making these perfect farm animal cupcakes. I'm never going to order from a bakery again! Crossing my fingers she will do Shannon's cupcakes for her birthday too!
She even made Savannah a small barn cake we could put candles in when we sang Happy Birthday to her.
Every time she blows out her candles she looks at me and says "MO PLEEESE!" So of course we light them up one more time, sing to her a second and third time, and let her blow them out again. I guess that means she got three wishes on her birthday. Hopefully at least one of them comes true for our sweet girl. We cannot thank everybody enough for making the drive out to the farm for her party. It was a day filled with everything happy!
